I have a CZ 52 (7.62x25) fun gun to shoot, but its hard to find good quality ammo. Its a sporty little thing though, the grips suck, but a slide on grip fixed that. Anyone else have one of these, what are your feelings on them?

its as reliable as the ammo I put in it. Definitely a great gun with good ammo. I have a laser on mine and the thing is accurate out to 40 yrds all day long.

has the gun changed drastically to the cz-82 model? they seem to be available everywhere...

the cz 52 is only related to the cz 82 by the cz name. the cz 82 is a 12+1 round makarov (9x18) and the cz 52 is a tokarev (7.62x25).

you know the round that goes though ALL u.s. police bullet proof vest. due to the fact that u.s. bullet proof vest do not get rated for the takarev.this bullet proof vest is found in asia, a person could most likely order a vest special.bestbull might know more about that.

the cz 82 is most closly linked to the cz 83 same gun but in the 380acp round. all three will be service trade ins in the 200-300 price range and are battle proven in the sense of urban combat.

wow...great info mk...I really thought the cz-82 was just a new model...I was aware of the 9mm...but I thought that was an option....thanks for clearing that up...
2nd part...the bullet vest....the penetration ability is due to small mass? similar to a .22 mag which supposedly will go thru the ballistic plastic clip boards they were using in the '70's. That was before they started wearing vests....sorry if I got too far off the subject...this is just really interesting!

its not off topic since it is dealing with the cz52. the gun came out in 1952. as military and police sidearm.production stopped in 1954 around 250000 were made.the cz was designed to handle loades 20% hotter then what the soviet tt30 could handle.

the reason soft body armor can not stop the round is you have t 25 cal bullet traveling at 1600 feet per second, goes though lots fo stuff.

yeah..that seems to follow the same reasoning of the .22mag...low mass high velocity...
Any idea why they chose to stop making the 7.62x25...it seems far superior to the 9mm.
Another question...I thought that the 7.62 designation was for .30 rounds...

Great info MKX and Poli, CZ 52's are definitely fun to shoot, though i highly recommend a Hogue slip on grip. I also have a Laser sight on mine which is fun.
