I am going to be doing a demonstration and teach how to throw atlatl darts at the Deer Valley Rock Art Center on the 27th of March. To those of you who are not familiar with atlatls and darts, these are the hunting tools that paleo-Indians used in North America to bring down mammoths and giant bison about 20,000 years ago. It was the primary weapon system until about 500-600 years ago, when it was replaced by the bow and arrow system.
I won't be the only one doing demos, we will have knappers, potters, and free tours of the petrogyphs. Location: Deer Valley Road and about 39th Avenue up against the mountain.

Nope, it's a Saturday...I am thinking about doing another event at VbarV Ranch on Wet Beaver Creek on Sunday...not sure yet...it's another event, but sponsored by the US Dept of Interior at a large petrogyph site around Camp Verde/Sedona Area.....it's a two day event and I might leave to go there directly after I finish the Deer Valley event.
Sorry that you won't be able to attend on Saturday. If that changes, let me know or come down and introduce yourself to me while I am doing my demo...you will get special treatment... |

Anybody want to toss Atlatl Darts???
