| jason308 at the t.m.shoot you were telling some of us at one of the ranges for a shooting class they do not allow shooters to use taurus firearms what range and class was it? |

truthfully, every class Ive been a part of the instructors will not allow the taurus semi auto handguns to be used. Im not sure if its a personal prefrence of saftey or both. I have been told enough stories to stay away from them. I dont think public ranges take the same stance but they want a range fee and a waver signed so they dont care. but if anyone is going to take a class they should ask ahead of time if its ok. Remember this is goig back for a decade, "crap Im old" but the practical-tactical ranges might have a rule still, but is only for those of you who would be on those ranges for what ever reason.

| i have taken my taurus to scottsdale gun club, shooter's world, and ben avery and neither of those companies said i couldn't shoot my taurus pt1911 there. i have not had a single issue with safety on this weapon yet. |

And nobody has chased me out of the desert for shooting one either. |

you know what i think is funny. most everyone that talks bad about taurus do not own nor have owned a taurus. this is my first taurus and i love it. i have had people talk bad about them when i am with them and i told them to fire my 1911 and everytime they say it's a nice firing piece. they obviously can't be that bad if they are pulling prices matched around some para's, springfields, and other's and people still are purchasing them.
So true. I had a bad experience with a taurus millennium and I have been fond of Taurus' ever since - however prior to experiencing that malfunction, i owned a nice 357/3.8 revolver and it never gave me any problems.

| From my admittedly limited experiences with Taurus, there were some really good ones, and some peices of crap. It's really hit or miss. When you get a good one, it's a dang good one. When you get a bad one, you get a bad one. I hear they honor their lifetime warranties well though. |

Well, that sucks. I have an old 66 although I don't know the year. I'm guessing pre 1996 since it doesn't have the hammer lock on it. Now I'm thinking of selling it if they won't honor the warranty. It's really the only reason I kept it since it was not the model I wanted. I'm not much for the 3" barrel. I like my .357s 4" or longer. |

scottsdale gun club did not sell tuarus until just recently they had always said it was due to poor quelity now they do and they always sold kel-tec.
issue with the pt92 not since the late 80's the first berettas supplied to the u.s. military were done by taurus under contract while the beretta factory was being finished and the slides broke on a few that belonged to the seal teams the seals went to sig p226 and p228 for this reason |

| lol Kel-tec is not what I would consider a "step up" - but more like a "side step" from Taurus. Same quality in my opinion. |

| Well...almost sorry to tell you that now I own two. I just purchased their new PT709, got a smoking price of $269.00. This pistol has been getting great reviews so I think I will be happy with what I intend to do with it. It's cheap pistol, my in my opinion, it's the best of the cheap pistols. Not a SIG, but until my business picks up or I decide to sell some of my other pistols to purchase my CZ and then my SIG P229, I think it will work out fine for me. I have been very happy with the PT140 that I have, it's been very accurate for a compact pistol and it eats everything that I give it without a hiccup. I have 1000+ rounds so far and never a FTE or FTF. Maybe I have been lucky with my Taurus...if that is the case, I hope I get lucky again with the PT709. I'll post what happens on my initial range visit. |

| I carry a Taurus PT 145 PRO MILLENNIUM and I have never had any static about it. It's light weight fires fantastic. The ONLY THING I do not care for about this weapon is the trigger pull is much to long for my personal liking. |

jbviper1: your trigger is probably the same as my PT140. Have you mastered staging the trigger? I had someone teach me this and not only has it helped my accuracy with this pistol but makes my follow up shots much quicker too. If you don't have snap caps get some and practice, find out where your pistol trigger resets and where the trigger starts to stack up. After a very short while, you will get the idea of what to do...it seems to come naturally if you practice...
By the way, since you have a Taurus have you checked out the PT709 series? Small, flat, very concealable..and an awesome trigger...new models have come out in .40 cal and I believe .45 too. |

well im pickin up a taurus 1911 from a guy off of gunbroker for 4 bills he says it shoots awasome but of course he is selling it um i also have never heard about any ranges not allowing taurus firearms SD gun club usery pass ive seen taurus's that just doesnt even sound feasable du to the fact that firearms are extensively tested with all kinds of ammunition i dont think u can single out a firearm like that unless there was an actual recall or known defect i think singling out a firearm like that at a shooting range mite possible have some legal ramifications if the actual taurus firearms co actually got wind
